Getting There Part 2

On the way back to CHCH we stopped by Castle Rocks to try and climb on the rock in street shoes (not the best idea we had). The next day we went to Hanmer Springs and soaked in some hotsprings and found a brewery along side the road on the way home so we stopped there for some beer and food. The next day Joe and I were on our way to return the car and found a indoor gocart track. These cars would go at least 50mph of it wasn’t for the one turn. It was the best $25 I spent in chch.

Here's a pic of Owen and Joe.

Oct 7th the weather cleared up on the Ice and the 1st flight made it to the Ice. Our flight was then due to lift off at 2am on the 8th. We all loaded up in a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster for the 5 hour flight. We got within an hour of landing and the weather moved in and we had to return chch. That flight was 8 ½ hours. The next day we loaded up at 9am and landed on the Ice.

Here's a pic as people loaded the C-17. That's all cargo in the back.

Here we are leaving the plane going back to our hotels. The next 3 shots are from the plane as we fly over Antarctica. As you can tell not much just some mountains and WHITE lots of WHITE! Oh ya how could I forget 2 engines.

As the crew opened the door the plane got cold inside quick. I shot some video so look for that soon.
All in all I left Denver the 28th arrived in Christchurch NZ on the 30th then was supposed to be on the Ice the 2nd but didn't get there until the 9th.
